Bhangra
Bhangra (Punjabi: ਭੰਗੜਾ, Hindi: भँगड़ा, IPA: [pə̀ŋgɽäː]) is a form of music and dance that originated in the Punjab region in India. It is commonly associated with the Sikhs.[1] Bhangra began as a folk dance conducted by farmers to celebrate the coming of Spring, or Vaisakhi. Today, bhangra survives in different forms and styles all over the globe – including pop music, film soundtracks, and even collegiate competitions.
